About this event

The  Northwest Community Media Gathering invites providers and users of nonprofit, community based media to attend.  The conference offers educational sessions geared toward community television, radio and on-line news and information services and opportunities for networking. 

The day wraps up with a celebration of  The Best of the Northwest Video Awards. 

The Northwest Community Media Gathering is convened by the Alliance for Community Media Northwest Region.

10:00 AM    Opening Plenary:  Our Changing Media
Traditional media outlets are losing viewers, readers, and listeners.  Internet delivered news and entertainment continues to gain market share. Satellite radio and personal media players are challenging traditional radio.  Join this discussion on how we fit into the evolving environment and leverage our strengths as community media providers.

11:15 AM    Educational Topics

Marketing & Outreach: Engaging Your Community in a Digital World 
Using new media tools to engage your community, involve your volunteers, and spread your message.

Operations and Programming: Say YES to Technology 
Why aren’t you using (the newest thing name here)?  Technology for media creation, distribution, and archiving are all changing at light speed.  This session will help the timid overcome their reservations, and the bold seek out new and exc > iting ways to use emerging services and technologies to do our work.
